There’s no getting away from it: being a same day courier can be hazardous to your health! Long hours sat at the wheel, combined with ready access to junk food at motorway service stations, mean couriers tend to be overweight, with rates of diabetes and high blood pressure much higher than the national averages.
But a new study led by Loughborough University is aiming to get delivery drivers fit. 300 drivers will take part, receiving advice on how to keep active and eat healthily when they’re on the road. The researchers will monitor the drivers’ number of steps each day, hours of sleep, blood pressure and cholesterol, and see how these factors change over the course of a year.
We’re following this study with great interest. At Rock Solid Deliveries, we’re always looking for ways to take better care of our same day couriers, and to keep them well equipped for their work; physically, mentally and technologically. And since healthy diet and regular exercise have been linked to better concentration and improved mental health, as well as the physical benefits, we’re taking this seriously. Healthier couriers mean happier couriers, which is important in itself. And happy couriers are more likely to lead to happy customers!
Rock Solid Deliveries means same day couriers who are fit for purpose. Call us today on 0800 999 8220, for a courier who’s well equipped for any delivery emergency.
